By now you’ve probably heard the news: Foundation Center and GuideStar, long-time partners, have joined forces to become a single new nonprofit organization. Together, we are Candid, and our mission is to get you the information you need to do good.
Candid brings together Foundation Center and GuideStar expertise to serve the entire social sector—nonprofits, foundations, social enterprises, and individual donors. Combining two historic organizations—with tools used by millions of people across hundreds of platforms—will be challenging to say the least. But we are confident that we can do it.
What does all of this mean? How will it impact the sector? How will it impact you? Join us, Wednesday, February 20, from 2 to 3 p.m. EST as we explore these questions and more. We’ll:
- Share early ideas for product/feature enhancements
- Discuss a blueprint for what is to come over the next months and years
- Engage in a conversation with YOU to help shape Candid
Our stakeholders have been and always will be a vital part of our success. We will continue to provide opportunities for dialogue. As we evolve Candid’s priorities, products, and initiatives, we will integrate your feedback to steer us forward.
Already have a question in mind? Submit it here and we will do our best to answer it during the webinar.
Bradford K Smith is president of Candid. He was formerly the president of Foundation Center. Foundation Center maintains the most comprehensive database on U.S. and, increasingly, global grantmakers—a robust, accessible knowledge bank for the sector, together with research, education and training programs designed to advance knowledge of philanthropy at every level.
Before joining Foundation Center in 2008, Mr. Smith was president of the Oak Foundation in Geneva, Switzerland, a major family foundation with programs and grant activities in 41 countries on five continents. With the Ford Foundation, he worked as representative in Brazil before becoming vice president in the New York headquarters, responsible for the global Peace and Social Justice Program. Mr. Smith has devoted his entire career to the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors and serves on the board of directors of the Tinker Foundation and the advisory board of the United Nations Trust Fund for Human Security.
Jacob Harold is the Executive Vice President of Candid. Earlier in his career, he worked as grantmaker, strategist and campaigner at the Hewlett Foundation, the Bridgespan Group, the Packard Foundation, Rainforest Action Network, Greenpeace, and Green Corps.
He earned an AB summa cum laude from Duke University and an MBA from Stanford University. Harold is also a graduate of the Complex Systems Summer School at the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Jen Bokoff is the Director of Stakeholder Engagement at Candid. She develops partnerships and projects that build knowledge and strategy for grantmakers. She also runs GrantCraft, a free service that taps the practical wisdom of funders to improve the collective knowledge of the philanthropy field. In her role, Jen regularly speaks at conferences and facilitates workshops with funders, and connects people to resources, ideas, and one another.
A graduate of Tufts University, Jen studied community health and sociology and spent two years involved in the Learning by Giving philanthropy program. She serves on the Alumni Council’s executive committee and also serves on an advisory committee for The Moth’s education programs. In her spare time, she is an amateur comedic improviser, avid Brooklyn nerd, and second base woman on Candid’s winning-in-spirit softball team.
