Where We are Going

GuideStar was a pioneer in using the Internet to promote nonprofit transparency. Today, we’re part of the backbone of the nonprofit sector. We’re excited to build upon our achievements as we seek to expand and enhance our service to the sector and drive social change. Our priorities include:

Expanding the Breadth

of our information

We seek to include new types of charitable organizations, such as sub-entities (e.g., fiscally-sponsored organizations), religious organizations, and international organizations

Increasing the Depth

of our information

We seek to improve and expand program service information, legal compliance data, news and social media feeds, “what works” data on social interventions, and beneficiary feedback

Amplifying the Reach

of our information

We seek to expand the reach of our data as we add more data partners (websites, applications, donor-advised funds, libraries, and more)

Enhancing Our Network

via APIs

We seek to include more financial fields, pre-calculated metrics, expanded people information, and more nonprofit-reported data

Strengthening Our Visuals

with new graphics

We seek to strengthen search capability and data visualization

Advancing DEI

(diversity, equity, and inclusion)

We seek to advance DEI through the collection and aggregation of an expanded set of demographic data, and the analysis and data visualization of this information to inform discussion and nonprofit practices
