Washington, D.C., and Williamsburg, Va.—GuideStar USA, Inc., the leading source of nonprofit information, and KIMBIA, a group that empowers nonprofits and other organizations to increase giving, are hosting a $5,000 giveaway for nonprofits across the nation in order to encourage them to seek reviews from donors, volunteers, and other supporters. "In this era of online transparency, we encourage nonprofits to use reviews as an authentic method of sharing their story with donors."

Why Reviews Matter

Reviews enable nonprofits to show donors and other stakeholders that they are making an impact in their communities, are effectively working toward their missions, and are benefitting the people with whom they have interacted. Anyone with firsthand knowledge of a nonprofit who is not a paid employee of the organization—donors, volunteers, board members, recipients of the organization's services—can write a review for that nonprofit on GuideStar through a platform powered by GreatNonprofits. There is no charge to either the organization or review writers for posting the reviews.

"KIMBIA works every day to help nonprofits take advantage of the moment in which a person is most inspired to give," said Thon Morse, KIMIBIA's president and founder. "Along with our good friends at GuideStar, we are excited to promote these reviews that will help inspire more donations to the nonprofits that deserve it most."

Reviews have increased fundraising success for several nonprofits. For example, Operation Understanding, based in Washington, D.C., attracted 198 reviews to date. As a result, this organization was able to raise an extra $3,000 in its year-end campaign from donors, despite the difficult economic climate; it attributed this support to the reviews. Now, the group is incorporating quotes from the reviews in its new brochure and other marketing materials. Several other organizations have reported similar success.

KIMBIA gives cause organizations the power to improve and optimize their existing online fundraising and event efforts. Their platform and their people help nonprofits create the best solutions for their best intentions. Every day, thousands of cause organizations use the KIMBIA platform and services to collect funds, register participants, and motivate advocates, anywhere online. Learn more at
