Philanthropedia and Minnesota Philanthropy Partners Present Expert-Identified Workforce Development Nonprofits

Philanthropedia Analyzed Minnesota Nonprofits in Custom Research Project
Release date: April 24, 2012

Saint Paul, Minn., and Washington, D.C.—Minnesota Philanthropy Partners, which supports The Saint Paul Foundation, Minnesota Community Foundation, and 1,600 other affiliates across Minnesota, and Philanthropedia, a subsidiary research arm of GuideStar, today announced the results of custom research that identifies high-impact workforce development nonprofits operating in the state of Minnesota.

This research was conducted as a part of Philanthropedia's Custom Research. Using Philanthropedia's unique methodology and access to experts in the workforce development sector, the research was commissioned to help donors learn about and support high-impact nonprofits in Minnesota. Some 100 experts participated in the research, which resulted in recognizing 18 nonprofits as high-impact organizations in the workforce development sector.

'We are excited to share the results of Philanthropedia's research on high-impact workforce development organizations," said Carleen Rhodes, president and CEO of Minnesota Philanthropy Partners. "Jobs and the economy continue to be topics of great interest and importance in our current economic environment. With many Minnesota donors interested in supporting workforce development, the results will give donors ideas about how to support this issue in their communities."

Minnesota Philanthropy Partners has also commissioned research to identify high-impact environmental nonprofits (released in October 2011), those working on access to healthy food, and nonprofits improving access to art and culture.

The expert-identified, workforce development nonprofits will be highlighted on Philanthropedia's Web site, GuideStar's Take Action Web site, and MNSights magazine, a free bi-annual magazine published by Minnesota Philanthropy Partners, to help donors learn and connect with high-impact nonprofits. "Philanthropedia's custom research has proven to be an invaluable resource for community foundations, which serve as hubs of community knowledge, to offer local donors in-depth information on the nonprofits making an impact in their area," added Bob Ottenhoff, president and CEO of GuideStar. "Partnerships like this one help to provide donors with the information they need to give strategically."
