How It Works

Instructors, individuals, and academic institutions doing research on nonprofit organizations can apply for pro bono access to GuideStar Premium for themselves and their students.

GuideStar Premium allows users at nonprofit institutions to search, compare, and analyze millions of nonprofit organizations, filtering by size, revenue, location, etc. Interested instructors and researchers can fill out an online application to share how they plan to use GuideStar’s information and services.

After reviewing your application, GuideStar will contact you to discuss next steps.

Updates to GuideStar for Education

Over the course of 2017, we will be making some changes to the GuideStar for Education program.

  • Complimentary access to GuideStar for Education is limited to nonprofit institutions by funding available to subsidize this program.
  • Complimentary seats for GuideStar Premium will be awarded at GuideStar’s sole discretion but will be based on availability, need, project plan, and alignment with GuideStar’s mission.
  • Due to cost constraints, GuideStar Pro will no longer be offered as part of the GuideStar for Education program.  If you need download capability, please review the GuideStar for Library Services offering.

The good news is that colleges and universities can easily get campus-wide subscription for all of their students and professors by signing up for GuideStar Library Services. GuideStar Library Services offers:

  • Access to our premier search and analysis tool, GuideStar Pro.
  • Campus-wide IP address access, which benefits all students and faculty rather than just a certain class in a certain school within a university.
  • Flexible download ability for professors and students
  • Library-level account management to monitor use and gain access to larger sets of GuideStar data for research purposes.
